WALK #112

I came across a corner fruit/vegetable stand and noted the good prices for persimmons. I thought of returning with cash. But when I arrived home our neighbor had harvested from his tree and gave us a bagful over the fence. Life is good during this rainy day.

Persimmon Love

Their genus name, "diospyros,"
is Greek
for

“food of gods.”
The Mexican
Digyna

tastes like chocolate
pudding when
ripe.

Roasted and ground
persimmon seeds
substituted

for coffee during
the Civil
War.

In China, newlyweds
receive persimmons
as

auspicious gifts for
celebrating eternal
love.
